Emily & Clay’s Backyard Wedding in Wellsboro, PA

In the fall of 2021, I photographed Emily and Clay’s intimate backyard wedding in Wellsboro, Pennsylvania. Set behind their home, surrounded by turning leaves and their closest family and friends, it was the kind of wedding that felt deeply personal and grounded, simple in the best way.

Clay built the wooden arbor where they exchanged vows, and Emily’s mother created all the floral decorations, including the beautiful arrangements that dressed the arbor in soft, fall colors. The ceremony space blended right into the natural landscape—nothing flashy, just thoughtful, handmade details that told their story.

Wellsboro is a quiet town tucked into the hills of northern Pennsylvania, and the peaceful setting perfectly matched the feel of the day. Their wedding wasn’t about putting on a show—it was about celebrating with the people who matter most. There was no big crowd, no rush, no pressure. Just a calm kind of joy that unfolded slowly, and a couple who felt at home in the moment.

As a wedding photographer who specializes in small weddings and elopements, these are the days I live for. I focus on documenting real moments as they happen—quiet hugs, shared glances, laughter that builds slowly. Emily and Clay’s wedding was full of that kind of beauty.
