Blast from the Past: Bethany & Joe’s Wedding, 2014
While digging through my archive today, I came across images from the wedding of Bethany and Joe Bushen back in 2014. It’s wild to think how much time has passed—and how much I’ve grown as a photographer since then.
I was still early in my career, learning by doing, trusting my instincts, and following the energy of the day. Even then, I remember how natural it felt to let my camera stay quiet and observant—to focus on the real stuff. The in-between glances. The laughter. The way people soften when they’re surrounded by the ones they love.
Their wedding wasn’t a micro wedding in the technical sense, but it had a lot of the things I love most about small weddings: a focus on connection, a relaxed pace, and a joy that didn’t need to be amplified to feel real. Looking back at these photos, I can see the early threads of the work I still aim to make—images that feel honest, grounded, and human.
